Terms and Conditions

You represent and warrant that all information, statements, photographs, supporting documents, and representations submitted through the platform are truthful, accurate, authentic, and not misleading.

You accept full responsibility for the content of your request and any consequences arising from false, fraudulent, incomplete, or misleading representations.

The Light Project reserves the right to reject, suspend, restrict, or remove any request suspected of fraud, misrepresentation, or unlawful activity and, where appropriate, refer the matter to competent authorities.

All donations and assistance are voluntary transactions made directly between donors and beneficiaries.

The Light Project operates solely as a digital intermediary and does not collect, receive, hold, process, manage, control, or distribute donations.

Beneficiaries are solely responsible for receiving, accounting for, and using any assistance provided to them.

Beneficiaries undertake to use donations for the purposes represented in their published requests and to disclose any material changes in their circumstances or intended use of assistance.

The Light Project does not guarantee the amount, availability, delivery, or successful use of any donation.

Beneficiaries and applicants are responsible for determining and complying with all applicable laws, regulations, permits, and authorizations governing their solicitation activities, including Presidential Decree No. 1564 and applicable Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) regulations.

Where a solicitation permit or other authorization is legally required, the beneficiary or applicant must secure and maintain the appropriate authorization before conducting the regulated activity.

Publication of a request through The Light Project does not constitute approval, certification, or authorization by the DSWD or any government agency.

The Light Project does not represent that use of its platform exempts any applicant from applicable solicitation requirements.

Beneficiaries are responsible for determining, declaring, reporting, and paying any taxes, fees, or other government obligations legally applicable to the assistance they receive.

The Light Project does not provide individual tax certifications or guarantee the tax-exempt status of any donation or beneficiary.

Applicants must be at least eighteen (18) years of age and possess the legal capacity to accept these Terms and Conditions.

Requests involving minors must be submitted by a parent, legal guardian, or duly authorized adult, subject to applicable laws protecting children and their personal information.

Applicants must disclose any other active fundraising campaigns or requests relating to the same beneficiary or purpose, whether conducted through The Light Project or another platform.

Applicants must not knowingly misrepresent the amount of assistance needed or conceal material information regarding assistance already received.

The Light Project is not a party to any donation, agreement, representation, promise, or arrangement entered into directly between a donor and a beneficiary.

The platform does not act as a trustee, custodian, depository, escrow agent, financial intermediary, or representative of either party in relation to donations.

The Light Project does not guarantee the identity, credibility, financial circumstances, eligibility, or representations of any user, notwithstanding any reasonable screening or moderation procedures undertaken by the platform.

Donors and beneficiaries are responsible for exercising appropriate diligence before entering into any assistance arrangement.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable Philippine law, The Light Project, its owners, directors, officers, employees, and authorized representatives shall not be liable for losses, damages, disputes, fraudulent representations, misappropriation of donations, or other consequences arising solely from the independent acts or omissions of donors, beneficiaries, or third parties.

Users acknowledge that The Light Project does not exercise custody or control over donations and cannot guarantee how beneficiaries will use assistance received.

Nothing in these Terms shall exclude or limit liability arising from The Light Project’s own unlawful acts, fraud, willful misconduct, gross negligence, or any other liability that cannot legally be excluded.

To the extent permitted by law, applicants agree to indemnify and hold harmless The Light Project, its owners, officers, employees, and authorized representatives against third-party claims, damages, and reasonable legal expenses arising from:

• Fraudulent, false, or misleading information submitted by the applicant;
• Misuse or misappropriation of assistance received;
• Violations of applicable solicitation, privacy, tax, or other laws by the applicant;
• Infringement of another person’s rights through submitted content; or
• Material violations of these Terms and Conditions.

This obligation shall apply only to the extent that the claims or losses are attributable to the applicant’s conduct and shall not excuse The Light Project from liability for its own legally actionable wrongdoing.

The Light Project reserves the right to review, reject, restrict, suspend, or remove requests or accounts where there are reasonable grounds to suspect fraud, unlawful conduct, misrepresentation, or violations of these Terms.

Where reasonably practicable, affected users may be informed of the reasons for the action and given an opportunity to respond, except where immediate action is necessary to protect users, preserve evidence, or comply with legal obligations.

By submitting or publishing a request for assistance, the applicant confirms that:

• They have read and understood these Terms and Conditions.
• They voluntarily accept responsibility for their representations and fundraising activities.
• They understand that The Light Project is a connection platform and not a donation-collecting or donation-distributing organization.
• They agree to comply with all applicable Philippine laws and regulations.

The Light Project is committed to connecting people in need with individuals willing to help, while promoting transparency, accountability, and responsible giving.

All donations are processed through PayMongo, our third-party payment provider, and settled to The Light Project before disbursement to beneficiaries.

The Light Project charges a 10% platform service fee, deducted upon withdrawal. For example, a fundraiser receiving ₱100,000 in eligible donations will receive ₱90,000, before applicable processing fees or adjustments.

PayMongo charges separate transaction fees depending on the payment method. Any fees deducted from donation proceeds shall be disclosed to users.

All withdrawal requests are subject to verification and approval.

Approved funds shall be transferred to the beneficiary’s verified account within several working days, subject to processing requirements.

Beneficiaries are responsible for complying with applicable fundraising laws, including DSWD solicitation requirements. The Light Project shall comply with applicable laws and regulations governing its own operations, donation processing, and platform fees.

The Light Project reserves the right to suspend withdrawals, restrict accounts, or remove fundraising requests reasonably suspected of fraud, misrepresentation, or unlawful activity, subject to applicable laws.

To the fullest extent permitted by Philippine law, The Light Project, its owners, officers, and representatives shall not be liable for fraudulent representations, misuse of donations, or unlawful acts committed independently by beneficiaries or third parties.

This limitation shall not exclude liability for The Light Project’s own unlawful conduct, negligence where legally actionable, or mishandling of funds under its control.

By creating a fundraiser, requesting assistance, or making a donation through The Light Project, users acknowledge that they have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms and Conditions.
